About Brett's

I'm Brett, but call me Jesse.

Brett's has looked after Bayside cars since 1992. In 2026 the keys passed to Jesse Collingwood, who'd been working alongside Brett. The name stays, because the standard does.

The name on the sign

Same workshop. Same promise.

For more than three decades Brett's has been the workshop Bayside locals trust with everything from the family car's service to the aircon in the middle of a Queensland summer.

When Brett was ready to step back, Jesse was already on the tools beside him. He bought the business, kept the name and kept the way Brett did things: tell people the truth, charge them fairly and do the job properly.

“Reliable and honest, they don’t make mechanics like Brett anymore.”

In Jesse's words

From race trailers to the roller door.

  1. Early days

    Born into it

My parents had a shop of their own when I grew up, so I fell in love with the industry just like they did. Race cars on trailers were pretty much all I lived and breathed.

  2. Apprenticeship

    Holden

Straight out of school I started my trade at Holden and did two years there.

  3. Performance

    Running the workshop

I moved to a small performance workshop, finished my trade and ended up running the place for a few years. It taught me the ins and outs of how a workshop runs.

  4. Hi-Torque

    The big leagues

Then Hi-Torque Performance on the Gold Coast. A lot of racing, a lot of travel, and a crew that still feels like family.

  5. Mining

    Underground

I went mining to get ahead, picked up a dual trade as a diesel fitter, and worked on everything from earthmoving gear to underground breakdowns. My brother Zac was right there with me.

  6. 2026

    Brett's

After working alongside Brett, I took over the keys. Full circle: doing what I love, with the people I love, and an incredible team around me.

The promise

“We will always do right by you, and give it our best every day to deliver quality and perfection wherever we can.”

How we work

Three rules. No exceptions.

01

Do right by people

Honest diagnosis, a fair price and a straight answer. If something can wait, we'll tell you.

02

Keep them in the loop

A call when we find something, a price before we fix it, and your car back when we said.

03

Do it properly

Manufacturer specs, the right parts and the care we would give our own cars.

The crew

A family business, properly.

Jesse's brother Zac followed him from apprenticeship to the mine sites and now works beside him at Brett's. Their mum Michelle keeps the parts coming on the busy days.
